Description

Individual piece of vintage vinyl art featuring the Nottingham Forest terrace favourite, Mull of Kintyre by Wings. The song has been one of the Forest anthems ever since the glory days when the Reds were champions of Europe. Made famous by Paul McCartney & Wings, the song was released in late 1977 before being adopted by the Forest faithful during the season they won the First Division in 1978. Reds supporters changed the lyrics as the mist often rolled in from the Trent, and included a range of words about their travels up and down the country. Having been released that season, it became the Forest chorus with the words changed and has stuck ever since. Forest first decided to pump the song out just before kick-off at the City Ground in a bid to whip up the atmosphere, with the fans singing along prior to the clash against Yeovil in 2008 when the Reds secured promotion back to the Championship. The song has been played before kick-off ever since.

These are the words to the Forest version of the song:

City Ground

Oh mist rolling in from the Trent

My desire is always to be here

Oh City Ground

Far have I travelled and much have I seen

Goodison, Anfield are places I've been

Main Road, Old Trafford still echo to the sound

Of the boys in the red from the City Ground

City Ground

Oh mist rolling in from the Trent

My desire is always to be here

Oh City Ground

Passing the leather like Clougie's great men

Please take us back to the days I knew then

Games when we sang in the Nottingham choir

When we thrashed the sheep from Derbyshire

City Ground

Oh mist rolling in from the Trent

My desire is always to be here

Oh City Ground

Smiles in the sunshine, Football like champagne

Still take me back to where my memories remain

Flickering embers growing higher and higher

And a new squad of players for us to inspire

City Ground

Oh mist rolling in from the Trent

My desire is always to be here

Oh City Ground

Previously, Paul McCartney hinted on XFM that he would sing the Reds anthem at the City Ground if Forest earned promotion back to the Premier League. The musician said: “Yeah, when's that going to happen? Imminent? Good luck Nottingham." Maybe, just maybe, that could happen this season…

Mounted within a black wooden box frame and raised from a red pearlescent base. The frame measures 24cm x 24cm (9.5 x 9.5 inches). Also available, We Got the Whole World in our Hands - the 1978 European Cup song.

These pieces are made from vintage singles hand-cut and sourced by myself. There will normally always be visible wear and tear from being played such as scuffs to the vinyl and marks to the labels. This adds to the authenticity of the piece. Now, cut into novel shapes you can now appreciate not only some of your favourite records but now as a piece of individual art.

Please note vinyl style of label may change slightly depending on availability when sourcing the record.International customers please note, delivery via airmail via the UK may take up to 15 working days.
